We’re halfway through 2024! As a clinical nutritionist, I see many clients approach this milestone with a mix of emotions. Some feel energized and motivated to maintain their health goals. Others, however, hit a mid-year slump, their initial enthusiasm fading.

If you’re feeling stuck, don’t worry! A mid-year health reset can be the perfect opportunity to re-evaluate your goals and reignite your commitment to well-being.

This year, I’m particularly excited to discuss the potential of NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) as a powerful tool for your mid-year health optimization. NAD+ is a fascinating molecule found in every cell of our bodies. It plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including energy production, cellular repair, and DNA protection.

Research suggests that NAD+ levels decline with age, potentially contributing to age-related health issues. But, with NAD+ IV therapy, you can replenish your levels.  Here’s why NAD+ deserves a spot in your mid-year health reset toolbox:

Benefits of NAD+ for Your Mid-Year Health Boost

  • Enhanced Energy Levels: Feeling drained? NAD+ fuels cellular metabolism, the process by which your body converts nutrients into usable energy. Studies suggest that increasing NAD+ levels may combat fatigue and improve stamina.
  • Sharpened Focus and Cognitive Function: Brain fog got you down? NAD+ supports optimal brain function by promoting healthy neurotransmitter activity and neuron communication. This can lead to improved focus, memory, and cognitive performance.
  • Cellular Repair and Protection: As we age, cellular damage accumulates. NAD+ activates sirtuins, proteins known for their role in DNA repair and cellular protection. This may help combat the effects of aging and promote healthy cell function.
  • Improved Physical Performance: NAD+ plays a vital role in mitochondrial function, the powerhouses of our cells. Optimizing mitochondrial function can enhance physical performance, recovery, and endurance.
  • Potential Benefits for Mood and Stress Management: NAD+ may have a positive impact on mood regulation by influencing neurotransmitter pathways. Additionally, NAD+ could support stress management by enhancing the body’s resilience.

Taking Charge of Your Mid-Year Reset: NAD+ and Beyond

Here are some tips to incorporate NAD+ into your mid-year health reset strategy:

  • Consult with a qualified healthcare professional: NAD+ therapy comes in various forms, including intravenous (IV) drips and oral supplements. A healthcare professional can help determine the most suitable approach for your individual needs.
  • Lifestyle Optimization is Key: NAD+ is a powerful tool, but it’s not a magic bullet. Prioritize a healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet, regular exercise, quality sleep, and stress management techniques. These habits will further amplify the benefits of NAD+.
  • Focus on Long-Term Sustainability: A mid-year reset is a great starting point. However, aim to develop sustainable health practices you can maintain for the long haul.

Additional Tips:

  • You can explore NAD+ precursor supplements like nicotinamide riboside (NR) as a potential way to boost NAD+ levels.
  • Consider incorporating foods rich in NAD+ precursors, such as leafy green vegetables, brewer’s yeast, and milk.

Remember, a mid-year health reset is an opportunity to make positive changes that benefit you for the rest of the year and beyond. Incorporating NAD+ alongside other healthy habits can fuel your mid-year health reset and power a vibrant and healthy second half of 2024!
